The Great Camping Night
The Great Camping Night
One summer, my family decided to go camping in the woods for the first time. I was so excited because I had never been camping before, and I imagined sleeping under the stars, roasting marshmallows, and telling spooky stories. We packed our tents, sleeping bags, a lot of snacks, and even a small lantern. When we arrived at the campsite, I couldn’t wait to set everything up. My dad handed me a tent pole, and I eagerly started helping, feeling like a real explorer. But things quickly got complicated. I accidentally knocked over the tent, which collapsed in a big pile. My parents tried to hide their laughter, but I felt so embarrassed because I thought I had ruined everything on my first try. We finally got the tent set up, and I was so proud—until it started raining. The rain was heavy, and soon water was seeping inside the tent. I was cold, wet, and miserable, feeling like I had ruined our whole trip. That night, I was afraid of the dark and all the noises in the woods. I kept imagining monsters hiding behind the trees, and I couldn’t sleep. But in the morning, I woke up to a beautiful sunrise and realized that camping was full of surprises—good and bad. Even with all the mishaps, I learned that adventures are about trying, making mistakes, and having fun despite the problems. The experience made me braver, and I still love camping, even if things don’t go perfectly.
