One day, I found my mom crying softly in the kitchen. Curious, I asked her what was wrong. She looked at me and said she was worried about finances and feeling overwhelmed. Wanting to comfort her, I told her I’d be a good kid and do my chores without complaining. I thought I was being helpful, but instead, I made her cry even more. She hugged me tightly and told me how much she loved me. That moment was confusing for me because I didn’t understand adult worries, but I wanted to be brave and helpful. It made me realize how sometimes, kids can accidentally say the wrong thing or reveal feelings they’re not ready to handle. Looking back, I wish I had been more understanding and less eager to “fix” things. Still, that moment taught me that sometimes, just being there and showing love is enough, even if you don’t have all the answers.
